The Rachel Sellers Podcast
I’ve got some news— I’m launching a podcast!
Many of you know that prior to becoming a therapist, I was a teacher. I used to think of this in a past tense sort of way. I was a teacher, now I’m a therapist. But that’s just not true. I’m still a teacher. I will always be a teacher, in some form or fashion. Lately, I’ve been trying to figure out a way to use my teaching skills, and that’s exactly how this podcast came to be!
The aim of this podcast is to provide free education about mental health and wellness and to make it accessible to as many humans as possible. I’m passionate about ending the mental health stigma and bringing awareness to hard things people don’t like to talk about. I am passionate about teaching people things that they should have been taught in school about mental/emotional health (but weren’t because the system is really messed up).
Mental health matters. It’s a huge public health issue. We ALL have mental health and guess what— everyone struggles with it to some degree! No one gets a “get out of suffering free” card. If we want healthier communities and relationships, we have to start addressing mental health. If we want better physical health, we have to start addressing mental health. Therapy is cool and it needs to be normalized. We’re getting there and we have a lot of work to do.
So what exactly am I going to cover on this podcast? A lot of things, so buckle up! Here are a few!
Polyvagal Theory (*Season 1— because it’s the bedrock of everything else that will follow!)
Eating disorders/disordered eating, diet culture, weight stigma
Complex/developmental trauma, ACE’s (adverse childhood experiences)
Anxiety/depression
Parenting (from a neurodevelopmental approach)
Boundaries
Mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellness
Other topics that I haven’t decided on yet
The podcast is set to launch on November 16th, 2020! You will be able to find it here, on my website! As well as Spotify and Apple Podcasts. If you are reading these words, I am so grateful for your support! And I’ll continue to need it for this podcast to be successful. So you bet I’m going to be asking you guys to write some reviews and give me some stars and help me make this podcast known!
With love,
Rachel
